This was the first ever time in my life that I traveled to South America.

I decided to fly from Tijuana airport(TIJ). “Cross border Xpress” is a bridge connects the United States and TIJ airport. People who travel to South America favor this airport since the plane ticket is a lot more cheaper.😊

Went through a long tunnel to get to Tijuana immigration check point

I didn’t have any check-in luggage. It took my around 30 minutes to get to my gate. However, if you have check-in luggages, there seemed to be a very long waiting line.

Even in the airport, be prepared not all the staff can speak in English. And that’s when I started to taste a little bit of Mexico. 😊

Tijuana to Mexico City (17:50-23:15, Dec 21)

Mexico city airport is 24 hours and it also has capsule hostals and hotels builded inside. My next flight departed at 5:00 am. I needed to take a bus from terminal 2 to terminal 1 immediately since the bus operation time is from 5:00 am -1:00 am.

For me, I was in Mexico only for transfer, and I didn’t know it required money to take the bus from T2 to T1. I didn’t have any Mexican pesos, so I used google translate to communicate with the person who was also waiting in line. The person was very nice and paid my bus fare for me.😃

It was common for people here to just get out their blanket and sleep on the floor. The terminal 1 before the check in point, it was kind of messy and dirty. The toilet smelled and the time I was there, they did not have the water to flush😭. However, once you checked into the departure area, it was nice and clean.😊

Mexico City to Colombia Bogota (5:00 am- 10:30 am, Dec 22)

Colombia was sooo GREEN when viewing it from the plane.

I only have 1 hour and 40 minutes for this transfer flight. I was worried about I couldn’t make it. Luckily, for the connection flights in Colombia, I won’t have to go through immigration check point again, just have to go through the luggage examination which is really quick. It took me about only 15 minutes from getting off the airplane to my gate.😊

Surprisingly, Bogota airport was huge and clean. Coffee and fruit chocolate beans were sold everywhere over there. I was trying to find fried bananas which I heard it was famous here. Unluckily, they didn’t have it in the airport.

Colombia peso and the US dollar rate is 1:0.0003. The water i bought cost 4000 Colombia pesos. I was not used to this kind of big amount number purchase😅. I ate a snack, which contained chicken, pork, and eggs filings.

Colombia to Lima, Peru (12:20-15:15, Dec 22)

I had a short layover here. Since my next stop was Cusco, Peru. I needed to get out and check in again.

Jorge Chaves International Airport in Lima is the main domestic and international airport. I could have go outside for 30 minutes to an hour for sight seeing but I chose to stay in the airport due to safety issues.

Lima, Peru to Cusco Peru (18:10-19:30, Dec 22)

When I arrived Cusco, it was dark at night. The place I booked was close to the airport since the next day I had an early flight at 8:00 boarding. The hostel owner Mery was really nice and picked me up from the airport. There were a lot of taxi drivers who wanted you to get inside their cars which was a little sketchy.

I thought the room i booked was with the shared bathroom. I ended up having my own master room with a huge bathroom.

Highly recommend this place if you have an overnight layover here. (Comodo y Seguro Homestay $17)😊

The next day, BOLIVIA!!!😃
